Planning involved English Heritage
This particular project was very complex in terms of planning because of the restrictions brought about not only by its Grade 2 listed status but also by its sensitive location within the curtilage of the Ancient Scheduled Monument Boundary of Chertsey Abbey.
Extensive consultation with the planning authority and English Heritage resulted in the application being approved with no issues at all. This enabled what is an important local historic building that had fallen into disrepair and been poorly extended over the years to be extended and restored to create a beautiful home for its owners.
Tessa, you saw the potential in this property where nobody else did. You gave us sound practical advice alongside inspiring, creative ideas. You came up with a design for a refurbishment and extension that is sympathetic and in keeping with the original 15th century barn and contemporary too. Your design went through English Heritage, Listed Building Consent and Planning Consent first time – saving us time and money. We are delighted with our home and passers-by go out of their way to compliment the beauty of the building! Thank you so much!
